Putting Colorista One day hair colour to the test
What do we want? Bold hair! When do we want it? Now!
With temporary hair colours growing rapidly in popularity, and sales of wash out dyes tripling in recent years; the days of botched hair colour should be gone, right?
Cosmetic isles have been taken over by semi-perminant and wash out colours that last anywhere between one wash and ten, allowing people to experiment with their style, but ultimately not having to commit to working their 9-5 with mermaid themed hair once V-festival had ended.
Wash out dyes have paved the way forward for flexibility in styles and keeping up with latest trends and fashions. In 2014, 28% of 16-24 years olds in Britain had experimented with temporary colour, and the market only keeps expanding as the demand for new colours and new products increases.
2017 saw the launch of L'oreal's Colorista temporary hair dye range with 13 shades of two week colour, and 7 shades of one day colour. In L'oreals First-half 2017 financial report, they accredited the continuation of growth within their hair colour sales to a reflection of "the very strong start made by Colorista - which is reinventing hair colour for millienials".
However, the Colorista one day spray hair colour has recently received incredibly mixed reviews!
Robyn Weller, 25, a staff nurse in Blyth Northumberland, pictured above, tried the product as said: "It was a massive disappointment, it was so expensive for what you actually get and it didn't really do anything in my hair! The colour barely changed, there was virtually no colour pigment in the spray. It was a complete waste of time."
Others were quoted on Instagram and twitter saying it was "useless" and that they were also "disappointed" in the product!
So, how better to put this to the test than with a millennial willing to switch up their style for a day and find out how good this spray colour really is!
Thats where I come in! Watch the video below to see how I got on when I trialled and tested L'oreals new one day colorista spray in the colour pastel blue.
Will the product give me the bold new look it promises or is it as useless as so many seem to think it might be!
I have to say I'm with those who were disappointed by this product! The result shown on the bottle for darker hair colours was nothing like the actual result I ended up with! The colour was patchy and barely visible despite using a massive amount of product.
Once the colour has dried it has to be brushed out in order to get rid of the dried crunchy feeling in your hair, but upon doing so all of the pigmentation is lost.
For looks such as the above, or for curly hair, this product could work great, as the pigmentation is bright when it is not brushed!
Sintija Vizule, a blogger from Riga Latvia, pictured above said: "I loved the spray! It worked great for my mermaid look because the colour stayed bold. I still use colorista regularly now!"
Colorista one day spray might not yet be top of my list when it comes to wash out dyes, but its certainly worth a shot for more styled and textured looks.
